DO YOU WANT YOUR CHURCH TO BE MORE INTENTIONAL, SENSITIVE AND SYSTEMATIC IN YOUTH MINISTRIES?

DO YOU SEE A NEED FOR GETTING MORE YOUNG PEOPLE INVOLVED?

HAVE YOU SEEN YOUNG PEOPLE LEAVE THE CHURCH, AND DO YOU HAVE A HEART FOR REACHING OUT TO THEM?

Did you answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions? If so, your church can benefit from the Church of Refuge framework!

INTENTIONAL

A Church of Refuge is a church that is intentional about young people, ensuring that they feel protected, that they are valued, and that they can get involved. The Church of Refuge framework embodies Jesus’s commission to go and make disciples.

RELATIONAL

Young people need the church and the church needs young people. It is disturbing that we lose more than half of our youth, and generally their reasons for leaving the church are relational, not doctrinal.

MISSIONAL

Churches where young people belong, and where they participate in the shaping of the church’s life, vision, and mission, are generally passionate communities. Churches that include young people are much more likely to reach contemporary society with the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ (Revelation 14:6-12).

HOLISTIC

Based on Jesus’s example of true discipleship, CORe churches emphasise four key values. They nurture belonging through relational discipleship, they build identity through spiritual growth-oriented discipleship, they foster purpose through missional discipleship, and they encourage commitment through empowering discipleship.
